What We Believe

At Gowensville Baptist Church, we recognize the importance of our historical creeds and confessions of faith, integrating these in various ways by making what we believe clear throughout our teaching.
As a Southern Baptist Church, our core beliefs are captured in the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

We are intentional about raising up disciples

The Word of God is central to all we do at Gowensville – this is best demonstrated from the pulpit. Our preaching aims to confront hearts, instruct minds and call sinners to repentance and faith in Christ, which can only be done by the Spirit through the faithful exposition of God’s Word. Therefore, our pastors strive each Sunday to take the passage, explain what it means in its original context, and then apply it to our lives today.

When we gather, we sing songs that are meant for you to sing as you join with other believers in proclaiming truth set to melody. We gather to raise up worshipers who understand who God is and why he is worthy of our praise. We choose to sing songs rich with theological truths because we want to equip you with portable theology that carries you through the joys and sorrows of the rest of your week.

Discipleship doesn't end on Sunday after the worship gathering. From our children's ministry through our adult courses, every aspect of our discipleship is intended to enable you to become more like Christ. Discipleship opportunities can be found on Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour, and on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. You can also download the Gowensville app to find resources and materials for at-home discipleship. We are working hard to ensure you and your family are equipped with the tools you need to build Christ-like families, not just for this generation, but for generations to come.
